Changing the Starter in Your FC3S and FD3S​

Tools Used:
10mm, 13mm, 14mm Socket
Ratchet
14mm Open Ended Wrench
(12mm Socket pictured, but not needed)

Information:
  • For this guide it is implied that you already have the car in the air and on Jack Stands.
  • Pictures provided below are of the FD, but the same strategy is applied for the FC.

Steps:
1. Remove the negative ground wire from the battery with a 10mm Socket/Ratchet

2. Remove the Transmission Splash Shield with a 10mm Socket/Ratchet

3. Remove the Power Wire and Spade Connector from the Starter using a 13mm Socket/Ratchet for the Power Wire

4. Remove the bolts that secure the Starter to the Bell Housing with a 14mm Socket/Ratchet/Open Ended Wrench

5. Install the new Starter the same way the old one came out. Install the starter holding bolts/nuts first and then re-connect the Power Wire and Spade connection.

6. Re-install the Transmission Splash Shield and Re-connect the Negative Ground Cable on the Battery
